From Moroccan Markets to German Tech: One Entrepreneur's Journey in Business Informatics
Learn how a foundation in B2B sales in Morocco fueled a passion for software development and a future in Germany's tech scene. This is the inspiring story of combining business acumen with technical skills.
From Market Stalls to Sales Strategies: The Early Years
Growing up in the small Moroccan towns of Errachidia and Nador, my world revolved around the family B2B distribution business, 2MP DIP Errachidia. Forget summer vacations; my childhood was spent in bustling local markets alongside my father and uncles.
Those weren't just chores; they were invaluable lessons in the rhythm of commerce. I learned the art of negotiation, product positioning, and understanding customer behavior—all skills that would prove crucial later in my career. This real-world experience sparked a desire to learn more about effective sales strategies.
Trading Textbooks for Tech: Discovering Digital Marketing
Formal education, a BTS in Technico-Commercial followed by a bachelor's in Management of Sales Forces, reinforced the practical knowledge I'd gained. But in 2019, everything shifted when I discovered the captivating world of digital marketing.
The mechanisms of website ranking, the behavior of algorithms, and the ways people interact with online content became my new obsession. This fascination propelled me into the world of technology and led me to explore opportunities in full-stack web development.
Tech Training in Morocco: Building Digital Solutions from Scratch
Driven by my newfound passion, I immersed myself in intensive tech programs, including a full-stack web development course and the ALX Software Engineering Program specializing in Back-end Development. This intense training honed my ability to construct scalable digital solutions from the ground up.
But in Nador, tech opportunities were scarce. Instead of waiting, I chose to create them. That's when I discovered that with a bit of scrappiness and innovation, creating software development teams in Morocco could open doors for my community and myself.
Bridging Continents: Founding a Remote Tech Collective
Leveraging connections within the local music and arts community at Rif Records Studio, I co-founded #./Techlab.MA Community with fellow software engineer Youssef El Idrissi. What started as a small group quickly grew into a remote collective of multidisciplinary freelancers who are dedicated to implementing real-world tech solutions for startups and small businesses.
As Business Lead, I steered client relations, negotiated contracts, forged strategic partnerships, and collaborated with our community on production.
Real Projects, Real Impact: Highlights and Collaborations
#./Techlab.MA Community successfully collaborated with companies across Europe and Morocco, including:
- Sanhaji Production and Ness Production (Belgium)
- lemiel.shop (France)
- 22 Codes (Fes, Morocco)
- Dima TV Press and Opal Multiservices (Morocco)
These projects demonstrated that talent, resilience, and tangible results can emerge from unexpected places, challenging conventional narratives about tech hubs.
The Next Chapter: Business Informatics in Germany
Currently, I'm preparing for a Duales Studium in Wirtschaftsinformatik (Business Informatics Dual Study Program) in Germany. This program perfectly blends my practical business experience with technical proficiency, all while placing me at the heart of Europe's vibrant innovation ecosystem.
This isn't simply a career advancement—it's a mission to stand at the intersection of business and technology to develop influential, sustainable, and inclusive solutions. My ambition extends beyond personal success; I aspire to pave the way for others who are self-taught, driven, and eager to make a meaningful impact.
Let's Connect: Building the Future Together
I'm actively seeking collaborations, mentorships, and career opportunities throughout the tech landscape, whether it's with startups or established corporations, across various disciplines.
I am especially keen on connecting with individuals in Germany, particularly those engaged in:
- #businessinformatics
- #softwaredevelopment
Whether you're a seasoned professional, a student, a founder, or a mentor, I want to build the future of tech with you!
